Every summer Arena di Verona becames the biggest opera scene in the world. The summer festival has its roots in 1913 and from then Arena presents quite often, but not every year, "Aida" of Giuseppe Verdi in the clothes of the first presentation in 1913. On the schedule that appears even as "historical edition" and, in deed, this is it, living history.

The costumes and the size of the scene make the audience to be impresed and to feel that is a part of the Egyptian Etiopian war during the pharaons times. Even that Verdi did not specified, you can imagine that you have Akhenathon himself in front of you!

The highest magical moment is "Marchio Triumphale" when is an impressionant force presentation on the scene. The Egyptian army came from back and shows itself to the public then splits on left and right. The audience is positive high impressed specialy when some horses appears and make a bow in front of the people!

The voices are high level, too. First to remark is Amonasro, the father of Aida, who was interpreted by Sebastian Catana from Romania. He has a pure voice and is a pity that he didn`t have a bigger role. Aida fullfilled the scene with her voice even when she was alone, Anna Pirozzi did a great performance. Radames was Murat Karahan, he was good, but not perfect, but there is always time to improve, specialy when you have native talent. The last, but not the least, Amneris, Anna Maria Chiuri, made the role "after the book", leaving a good impresion about her voice and her acting.

The historical version of "Aida" is still on schedule for this summer and you can convince yourself about the greatness of the performance. If not, there is always "next year", isn`t it?
