Historic Debut of Jonas Kaufmann at The Arena di Verona for The 2020 Festival

Just over a month from the end of the 2019 Festival 2019, which closed following a unanimous success on behalf of the public and critics, Fondazione Arena has announced the debut of Jonas Kaufmann at the Arena di Verona for the special evening on 28th June 2020.

The 2020 Festival, which will begin on 13th June with a new production of Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci, promises to be full of surprises, thank to an artistic program that alternates great titles from the operatic repertory with five special evenings with some of the world`s top artists. The Jonas Kaufmann Gala Event on 28th June is the first of the special events on the program and will be an unmissable event whose protagonist will be Jonas Kaufmann, the famous German tenor contended by theatres all over the world, finally on his eagerly awaited Arena debut.

The news was announced today by the Artist himself, on the occasion of the launch of the book and the album "Wien", presented at Vienna`s Musikverein with the participation of the international press. Kaufmann stated that at present the Josef Kaufmann Gala Event on 28th June is the only Italian date of his intense artistic activity for the whole of 2020, and for this important appointment the tenor is arranging with the Theatre an opera program studied ad hoc for the Arena amphitheatre.

Kaufmann`s eagerly awaited debut at the Arena confirms the attention taken by Fondazione Arena di Verona with the artistic quality of the casts, thanks to the appeal on the Verona stage of the major performers and stars on the international opera scenario.
